      Dear Friends and Visitors,

      “Rejoice in Hope!
[...] The night is far gone; the day is at hand.” (Rom 12:12, 13:12)

This is the message we, the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette, joyfully share with you during the 2025–2026 La Salette Christmas Festival of Lights.

Though the world is filled with beauty, we also carry the weight of uncertainty, division, and weariness. And yet, Christmas arrives, quietly and powerfully, with St. Paul’s invitation: “Rejoice in hope” (Rom 12:12). This hope isn’t rooted in our circumstances, but in God’s promise made flesh in Christ, our hope, light and peace.

The image on our cover says it all: people from different cultures joyfully gathered around the Christ Child. It reflects both the mystery of Bethlehem and the spirit of our Shrine. Each year, it welcomes pilgrims from around the world, all drawn by the same light, the same hope. Moreover, our growing multi-ethnic communities (Spanish, Portuguese, Filipino, Haitian, Franco-Canadian, Italian, Vietnamese, Cape Verdean, and Afro-American) make the Shrine a prophetic living sign of Christ’s message for all: unity, peace, and joy.

As you walk through the lights, may you encounter more than beauty: may you find Christ’s hope shining for you and for the world.

The Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette.

  • FAQ

    • Q: What time do the lights go on?
A: Believe it or not, this is our most commonly asked question. The lights will be on every night from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., November 22, 2025 through January 4, 2026. Even on Christmas night, when the Shrine is closed, the lights will still be illuminated.

Q: How much does entry cost?
       A:
Entry to the Christmas Festival is absolutely FREE for you, your friends, and family! There are many places, however, throughout the Shrine where you can make a free-will donation if you'd like to! You can also make a donation by clicking HERE!

Q: When should I aim to arrive to beat traffic?
A: Traffic tends to begin approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour before the lights illuminate. Be aware - on busy nights (weekends closer to Christmas), traffic can extend up to a quarter-mile in each direction! Best advice: If you're planning on attending the illuminations on any weekend, plan to arrive a little early! Directions to the Shrine can be found HERE.

Q: Where is the best place to see the lights?
A: The majority of the Christmas lights are on trees so they can be seen from (almost) everywhere on the property.

Q: Are all areas of the Shrine well-lit?
A: To maintain a darkened atmosphere where the lights can best be seen, some of the "illumination" areas tend to be darker than other parts of the Shrine. In addition, following "lights out" at 9:00 p.m., our parking lot can be dark in some places. For guests planning on staying until the end of that night's illumination, we encourage them to bring a small flashlight with them!

Q: When do the lights go out?
A: The lights (as well as all buildings open to the public) will turn off/close promptly at 9:00 p.m. If you are planning on visiting the Religious Article Store, Church, Cafeteria, or Creche Museum, please plan accordingly.

Q: Do you close due to inclement weather?
A: In some instances, yes. Because we have a very large staff of employees and volunteers during the Christmas Season and because we live in New England (where the weather can change at a moment's notice) there are times when the Shrine may close due to inclement weather to keep our guests and staff safe. If you have any questions about a night's Christmas Illumination, firstly, check our website and Facebook page or call us directly at 508-222-5410.

      Q. When should I come so that it's not so busy?
      A. Try coming throughout the week! Remember that during the Christmas Celebration (November 22, 2025,-January 4, 2026), we are open almost EVERY NIGHT**  5:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. - NOT JUST WEEKENDS!

**Please check our Holiday Hours above for illumination times.
